WhenAny date inside the Pre-Season Transfer Window. Set aside one to five hours depending on the size of your league — don’t rush it.
What you needThe chairman invites the league. Before the first nomination, everyone needs:
- A Topflight account each, 16 or over
- A device to bid on and a stable connection
- Any research or Wishlists you want to use
- A laptop or TV for the Auction Tracker
Set up the Auction TrackerThe shared view: current nomination, highest bid, the 20-second countdown, remaining budgets and updated squads. It lives in Settings and is open to every manager — laptop, desktop or cast to a TV. Not on mobile: too much detail for a small screen.
Agree your house rulesWhoever sets the league up is the chairman. They agree the nomination order with everyone — random, alphabetical, clockwise, or last season’s finishing positions — and call the breaks.
NominateTake turns nominating one player at a time. Opening bids start at £2m and rise in £2m increments.
BidEvery new bid resets the 20-second clock. When it hits zero the highest bidder wins the player outright — nobody else can own him.
Let Topflight keep it legalYou cannot overspend, exceed two players from one club, or end up with an illegal squad or formation. £250m each, 16 players, validated on every bid.
Free DraftSpent everything chasing Haaland? Once budgets are gone, the remaining places are filled draft-style until every squad is legal. Unspent budget carries forward.
After the auctionFive sealed bid windows across the season. Hidden bids, highest wins; if two match, the lower-ranked manager gets priority.
